Rowan University - Master of Business Administration
Students have a variety of ways to complete the MBA program at the Rohrer College of Business, which includes an Accounting concentration. Those with opportunity in the fall and spring semesters only can select evening classes at the Glassboro campus, or they can take them at Cooper Hospital in Camden. When adding in the summer semester, students have a hybrid option to take half of their courses online and the other half at the Mount laurel campus. The final option is to fully complete the program online with each course being eight weeks in length. The program can be pursued on a full-time or part-time basis with customizable options for working professionals.
12 total courses are needed to complete the degree, with three of those reserved toward electives. Some of the required courses include Advanced Managerial Accounting, Issues in Management Information Systems, Financial Statement Analysis, and Managing Organizational Strategy. Admission requirements to get into the program include a Bachelor's degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and the submission of an application with fee, official transcripts, updated resume, two letters of recommendation, GRE or GMAT scores, and the completion of specific prerequisite courses. Online Master of Accounting Programs in New Jersey
University of Rutgers – Master of Accountancy in Governmental Accounting
There are a few higher education accounting options through the Rutgers Business School, including a fully online opportunity with an emphasis on governmental accounting. All 30 credit hours of this program can be completed fully online, and it will prepare students for the CPA exams and other certification options, like the Certified Government Financial Manager. There is an option to pursue a four-course certificate in the subject that can be used toward a full Master’s degree. Another possibility is enrolling in a dual degree with the Master of Public Administration.
Examples of courses students can take in the program include Governmental Budgeting Systems, Public Financial Management, Management Control in Nonprofit Organizations, and Public Sector Forensic Accounting. Another concentration is the Master of Accountancy in Financial Accounting, a program that can be completed in a hybrid format with a mixture of online and on-campus courses. For some undergraduates, a GMAT score is not required for submission in the application process should they meet certain academic standards.
Seton Hall University – Master of Science in Accounting
The online Master’s degree in accounting is perfect for graduate students that are looking to improve their position, and those that do not have a background in accounting can still complete the program with proper prerequisite education. The 30-credit hour program can be completed within two years, and it is divided up into 21 credits worth of core courses and the remaining reserved for elective options. Students will gain advanced knowledge in various accounting subjects (international taxation, financial statement analysis, etc.) and better soft skills in written and verbal communication.
No residency requirements are needed to complete the program and it is the exact same version that is taught on campus. There will be specific deadlines when it comes to completing coursework, but prior to that time, students can flexibly pursue the program. This program will help prepare students for the CPA exam. Application submission requirements include an application with fee, official transcripts that show a 3.0 cumulative GPA, statement of purpose, resume, letter of recommendation, and GRE or GMAT scores.
Rider University – Master of Accountancy
The College of Business Administration at Rider provides a MAcc program that will help graduates complete the CPA exam with the convenience of completing all coursework online. Students can choose from four concentrations when pursuing the program: Business Analytics, Finance, Forensic Accounting, or a general overview of the discipline. Each specialization can help customize the program to specific position needs, with analytics having more of a focus on the growing need for big data organization, or forensics that are needed for investigating fraudulent activity. Nine credit hours are geared toward the concentration with the remainder being from the core curriculum.
There are six different start dates to choose from throughout the academic year, and students are able to complete the entire program in under two years. Prerequisites can be added for those that do not have proficient background within accounting, but those credit hours will not count toward the Master’s degree. Graduates from the program have gone on to become financial managers, budget analysts, and personal financial advisors. Prospective students with strong academic backgrounds may have the ability to waive GMAT or GRE scores in the application process.
