This designates that the program has gone through rigorous review to give students the best possible education for their careers. Three of these universities have gone the extra step to receive accounting-specific accreditation from the organization.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln - Master of Professional Accountancy

The School of Accountancy offers the Master of Professional Accountancy (MPA) that can prepare students to sit for the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam. Students have the opportunity to complete both the undergraduate and graduate programs in accounting over a five-year span, or combine the MPA with a Doctorate of Jurisdiction.

For the traditional MPA, 30 credit hours are needed to complete the program. Prospective students that already have a background in business should be able finish the curriculum in one year, but those that need foundational accounting credits requires more coursework. This program is available for full-time and part-time students, with the former requiring at least nine credit hours of enrollment each semester.

Benefits of taking the program include taking an internship during the program to further advance hands-on training and gain networking opportunities. Full-time students are eligible for scholarship or fellowship opportunities that lower tuition and fees. Pursuing an assistantship can waive credit hours and provide students with a cash stipend.

Enhancing the Master's degree with a Juris Doctor gives eventual graduates expertise in handling financial concerns for business and individuals through a court of law. Completed in a span of approximately four years, students will be prepared for both the CPA and Bar exam. The curriculum consists of 117 total credits and admission is required in the College of Business and College of Law.
