Saint Louis University - Master in Accounting
The Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business offers students the ability to develop communication skills and analytical abilities when working in their accounting career. In addition to the academics, students have the option of joining the Beta Alpha Sci honor society for accounting and study abroad in Madrid. Students have the opportunity to pursue the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam with this degree.
30 credit hours are needed to complete the program, and 21 of the credits are directly related to various accounting topics with the remainder being business electives. Students will gain the information needed to become proficient in general accounting and auditing tasks. In addition to pursuing a concentration in Audit, there is also Financial Reporting and Taxation.
Application requirements include sending in transcripts, two letters of recommendation, updated resume, and personal statement that is fewer than 500 words. No Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores are required. Examples of prerequisite courses that are needed prior to beginning the normal program include various levels of foundational financial reporting, business statistics, and cost management.
At the completion of this program, graduates will be able to evaluate potential risk and will hold understanding of specific tax laws in the planning process. They will utilize critical thinking skills when analyzing information and solving business problems. Ethical behavior will be demonstrated as they work effectively with other members of their team and within the organization.

University of Missouri at Kansas City - Master of Science in Accountancy
The Henry W. Bloch School of Management offers the MSA degree for students that are looking to advance in their accounting profession. Being able to complete this program will give graduates the ability to think critically and have strong communication skills when creating financial reports or meeting with other team members. Students will also be prepared to take the CPA exam for state licensure.
30 total credit hours are needed to complete the program, which includes topics in income taxation and auditing if they were not taken prior to pursuing the degree. For students that do not have an undergraduate program in accounting or business, they may need to take up to 12 credit hours worth of foundational courses.
Required courses in the program include Data Analytics for Accounting, Current Problems in Accounting, and Tax Research, Procedure, and Practice. Up to 21 credit hours are needed based on other foundational coursework needed. This program allows for students to take up to 12 credit hours through any of the Bloch School disciplines.

Online Master of Accounting Programs in Missouri
University of Missouri – Master of Accountancy
The Robert J. Trulaske College of Business has an online Master’s degree in accounting that requires 30 credit hours to complete and is available fully online. This program will prepare students to take the CPA exam in Missouri and likely in other states. At least 95 percent of graduates enter into a full-time accounting position after completing this degree.
Topics that are covered in the curriculum include auditing, forensic accounting, and taxation. Examples of specific courses include Governmental Accounting and Budgeting, Tax Research and Procedure, and Advanced Auditing. Despite the program being fully online, there are opportunities to join a career fair to expand networking and developmental workshops to work on specific skills.
Admission requirements include completing the foundational prerequisites for the program, submitting Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, and having a strong GPA from the prior undergraduate degree. The school does accept specific work experience as credit to remove some of the foundational work. There must also be a few letters of recommendation and a personal statement.
No campus visits are required to complete the program, but students are eligible to visit campus to utilize resources, such as career fairs and career developmental workshops. There is flexibility to take just one course for students that are also maintaining a professional career, and this program can be completed in three years in that process.
Missouri State University – Master of Accountancy
The School of Accountancy offers the Master’s degree in an Accelerated or Traditional format. AACSB accreditation designates that faculty members are experts in the accounting field and will prepare students for various skills in their career, both academically and with hands-on experience. Graduates will be able to sit for the CPA examination in the state of Missouri and elsewhere.
Most courses in the program are offered in the evening or online to convenience those that will continue their professional career. The Accelerated format allows students to complete undergraduate and graduate accounting degrees in a shorter time than completing them separately with six shared credit hours. In order to pursue this format, students must apply by the second semester of their junior year.
For the traditional format, the Master’s degree requires 33 credit hours to complete. Certification specializations are also available in forensic accounting and tax accounting. Regardless of option, applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA from their undergraduate program and high GMAT scores.
Completing the Master’s degree will satisfy academic requirements for the CPA exam and will enhance an individual’s expertise in auditing and planning for expenditures at an organization. Graduates have gone on to work at popular accounting firms and government agencies as budget analysts, financial aid experts, business consultants.
