Online Master of Accounting Programs in Oklahoma
University of Oklahoma – Master of Accountancy
The Michael F. Price College of Business provides students with various formats to pursue the Master of Accountancy. In addition to completing the degree at the Norman campus, an identical version can be taken online while maintaining a professional career. This offers further flexibility to advance accounting skills and aids in the process to take the CPA exam.
33 credit hours are needed to complete the curriculum, which does not include foundational accounting courses that are needed for students without a business background. Examples of these introductory courses include cost accounting, auditing, and accounting information systems. These courses should have been completed at an AACSB-accredited institution and within the last eight years.
Course length is typically eight weeks for MBA courses and 16 weeks for accounting courses. Typically, the entire program can be completed within two years on a part-time basis if foundational courses are waived. Students may consider a three-credit International Financial Statement Analysis course that is taken abroad.
The application process requires submitting Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) scores, updated resume, and a completed online application with fee. A personal statement should include educational goals and why the prospective student selected the University of Oklahoma. It is optional to submit a letter of recommendation.
University of Tulsa – Master of Business Administration
The Collins College of Business is AACSB-accredited and offers the MBA at their campus, online, or a hybrid of both options. 37 credit hours are needed in the online version, which is divided into 25 core credits and 12 elective credits. A capstone project culminates the program, where students will display what they have learned in their education and obtain real experience when completing the project.
Online students can complete the program in a span of two years regardless of taking the traditional MBA or the specialized path with energy topics. This can also be completed with the part-time MBA available on campus with courses scheduled in the evening. Examples of courses in the core curriculum include Financial Management, Corporate and Business Strategy, and Issues in Business Ethics.
Students are administered into the online program in the fall semester. In order to be considered, prospective students should have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and meet foundational prerequisites. They should have received a 3.0 cumulative GPA in the undergraduate program.
Submissions of GMAT scores are needed in this business college unless they meet waiver criteria. This can be accomplished with high academic marks from a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, demonstrating high grades in advanced business courses, or having many years of professional experience.
