Students choosing the Accounting concentration will gain competence in the basic traditions of accounting and can perform advanced tax reporting duties for an organization. Three courses are required in the Accounting concentration, which can be from two levels of financial reporting standards, auditing standards, or individualized income tax guidelines.
Courses are offered in seven-week modules and can be taken one at a time, equating to approximately two years to complete on a full-time basis. This program is geared toward working professionals that are looking to gain an education while continuing their work. All courses must be completed with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher to receive the degree.
Application submissions should include the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores, official transcripts designating the completion of a Bachelor's degree, personal statement, and resume. Prospective students can waive their GMAT scores if they have at least three years of work experience and/or a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher from their undergraduate program.

Quinnipiac University - Bachelor of Science in Accounting
The School of Business has been recognized by the AACSB and has a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in the accounting discipline available. Students have the option to pursue both programs and complete them in a four or five-year span. These programs do not have flexibility to be pursued online, but they will provide the education needed to pass the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.
122 total credits are needed for the Bachelor of Science in Accounting. For the accounting majors, at least a C- grade or higher is needed for all accounting and law courses, and a 3.0 cumulative GPA is needed at the end of the program. At least a B- or higher is needed in Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and three levels of Intermediate Accounting.
Additional courses in the core of the degree include auditing theory, discovering accounting system, and the process of federal income taxation on both individuals and organizations. 15 credit hours are reserved for open electives to customize the program. 77 total credits will complete the business core and general education requirements at the university.
The dual-degree options require 150 total credit hours and can be pursued at an accelerated four-year format or five years for the full experience at both the undergraduate and graduate level. These options are available until the second and third years, respectively, when pursuing the undergraduate program. Online Master of Accounting Programs in Connecticut
University of Connecticut – Master of Science in Accounting
The School of Business offers the online Master of Science in accounting, which is accredited by the AACSB. This is an ideal program for students that are looking to gain more advanced employment in the accounting profession or an established professional making a switch into the accounting field. There is an emphasis on providing educational content for current accounting topics instead of relying on traditional textbooks.
Students have the ability to enroll on a part-time or full-time basis. Part-time students have the flexibility to take as many courses as they choose, but the school recommends to take one or two courses each semester for those still working full time. Full-time students can take all 10 courses over two or three semesters, having the ability to complete the program in just eight months.
30 total credit hours are included in the curriculum, making it ideal for those that have completed a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and are looking to pass the CPA exam. In addition to pursuing higher-level accounting jobs, this degree can also be perfect for those that are retiring from the profession and looking to teach accounting at a university.
In the application process, prospective students should send transcripts, GMAT scores, updated resume, and their answer to four essay questions. Admission into the program takes place at three different times per year (fall, spring, summer).
