University of Tennessee-Knoxville - Master of Accountancy
Students can pursue the Master's degree from the College of Business Administration. This is geared toward those that are looking to fully concentrate on their studies as course options are limited to weekdays and students must be enrolled full-time. The program begins in the fall semester only each academic year. Admission requirements into the program include a Bachelor's degree with a discipline in accounting, or graduates that showed exemplary work in other subjects can qualify and take prerequisite courses in the accounting field. GMAT scores are also needed, but can be waived for undergraduate students at UTK completing the prerequisites.
There are 30 credit hours needed to complete the program, divided up into 12 credits for the fall and spring semesters and six credits during the summer. Students can select one of the following concentrations when pursuing the degree: Audit and Controls, Information Management, and Taxation. The program culminates with a written comprehensive exam. Up to six credit hours can be utilized for transfer credit, but incoming students must be coming from an AACSB-accredited program. Maintaining a 3.0 GPA is needed to stay in the program.
East Tennessee State University - Master of Accountancy
The College of Business and Technology offers a Master's degree in accountancy that prepares their graduates for jobs in the financial industry and public accounting. Obtaining this degree will help in getting the Certified Public Accountants designation in the state. Students can pursue concentrations such as Audit, Controllership, Taxation, or simply a general overview. Courses are delivered in the late afternoon and evening hours for flexibility, and full-time students can usually complete the program in four semesters. All students will need to be proficient in using a computer and prior coursework in mathematics and calculus before pursuing the program.
Specific foundational courses include Managerial Accounting, Data Analytics for Accounting, and Auditing Theory and Professionalism. They should be holding a Bachelor's degree with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Students are administered three times per year into the program. In addition to holding an undergraduate degree, they will need to submit an application form with fee, a personal essay between 150 to 300 words explaining desire to enter the program, GRE or GMAT scores, and official transcripts. Students that may be lacking in many of the coursework prerequisites can complete a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration

Online Masters in Accounting Programs in Tennessee
Tennessee Tech University – Master of Accountancy
The College of Business offers a unique hybrid format of the accounting program that will prepare students for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. All of the coursework will be completed online, but there are two weekend-long residencies that will give students the ability to network and meet with faculty members. 30 total credit hours are needed to fulfill the degree, and students can choose to complete the program in one or two years. The latter option provides a pathway for those wanting to continue in their profession while earning a degree.
Prospective students can enter into the program with an undergraduate degree from an accredited university with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, submission of GRE or GMAT scores, and a letter of recommendation. All states except California are eligible to get into the online program. In order to continue pursuing the degree, students will need to maintain a 3.0 GPA averages and just six credit hours can be graded at the C level. There is an opportunity to retake a course once and two different courses can be retaken within the curriculum path.
University of Tennessee-Chattanooga – Master of Business Administration
The online MBA program is fully available online through the Gary W. Rollins College of Business. There are no requirements to meet on campus and there are four start times to choose from over the course of one academic year. Students that live near the school can opt for the flexible version that has a blend of both on-campus and online education. There are a handful of concentrations to choose from in the degree, including Finance. Courses taken in the specialization include Financial Markets and Institutions, Advanced Financial Management, and Investments.
Students also have the option of not choosing a specialization, providing the most customization. Regardless of the concentration selected, the program will take around two years to complete. There are prerequisites needed in order to get into the program, including Concepts in Economics, Business Statistics, Legal Environment of Business, and Accounting. Other needs for admission include holding a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with at least a 2.7 minimum GPA (or 3.0 GPA over the last two years) and GRE or GMAT scores. This latter need can be waived for those that graduated with a 3.25 cumulative GPA and have at least five years of professional experience.
