AACSB-Accredited Accounting Programs in Idaho
There are 15 different accreditation standards that are reviewed by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) when designating higher education programs across the world. Three different institutions in the state of Idaho have the AACSB accreditation specifically in accounting: Boise State University, Idaho State University, and the University of Idaho. Schools are required to receive the base AACSB accreditation before getting the accounting designation.
University of Idaho - Master of Accountancy
The College of Business and Economics offers the Master of Accountancy, a 30-credit hour curriculum that prepares students for a variety of accounting opportunities at corporations around the world. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher to graduate with the degree, and 18 credit hours are reserved for courses at the 500 level or higher. This program will provide preparation for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination for state licensure.
Only three courses are required in the curriculum: Advanced Auditing Seminar, Contemporary Management Accounting Issues, and Financial Accounting and Reporting Seminar. At least two electives are then chosen to complete the core curriculum, with topics in data analytics and fraud examination. The other 15 credits are additional electives with some course-level requirements needed to fulfill.
There are no requirements to those applying to the program to have accounting experience as they welcome all majors into the program. The Bachelor's degree should be from an accredited institution with at least a 3.0 GPA or higher. Those that do not have some background in accounting will need to take courses in principles and intermediate accounting, introductory-level auditing, and federal income taxes.
Other application needs include the submission of a personal statement, updated resume, and three letters of recommendation. Prior education must be approved by the department admissions committee. Students that are residents of states under the Western Regional Graduate Program are able to pay the same tuition rates that in-state residents in Idaho pay.

Idaho State University - Master of Accounting
Both the Master of Accounting and Master of Accounting is AACSB-accredited in the College of Business. Either program will prepare students to complete CPA licensure in various states and has a high passing rate compared to the national average. Other benefits include hands-on experience in preparing taxes for low-income families and a Meet the Firms career fair that brings top agencies to the school annually.
This Master's degree can be completed in just one year for students that are able to enroll full time and have an accounting background. At least two courses must be taken in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Course format is eight weeks long, and the program is geared toward those that will maintain full-time employment.
Students have the ability to combine specializations with the Master of Taxation or the Master of Business Administration programs. This provides additional skills in business management or a broader look at the taxation process. Both options will add length to the customized program, but some courses and electives may overlap with each other.
Requirements for admission include transcripts, updated resume, personal statement, letters of recommendation. In the application process, prospective students may be able to waive Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and/or Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) scores if they had a 3.5 GPA or higher in their undergraduate program.

Boise State University – Master of Science in Accountancy
Students are able to receive the Master of Science in Accountancy completely online and within just one year if enrolled on a full-time basis. For those needing additional time while balancing full-time employment, the part-time path can be finished in just under two years. This ability is only through the accelerated 30-credit hour curriculum.
A Foundations track is available for students that need to complete additional introductory-level courses in accounting. This can lead to a program up to 48 total credit hours. Regardless of path, students that complete the program have higher passing rates when taking the CPA exam and graduates have gone onto major accounting agencies to work as tax managers and financial analysts.
Online requirements for students include having a modern computer with high-speed internet connection and access to Google Apps for Education. Courses have asynchronous features, such as viewing lectures and accessing course materials at various times of the day, but assignments and exams will have weekly deadlines. Students have ability to contact faculty at any time through the learning management system and technical service is available daily.
Not only does Boise State University have designation from the AACSB, but they are also accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
